No flowers

I didn't manage to get out to any place where I could photograph flowers today, so instead I'm blipping a photo of the late afternoon sun on my sister's front garden.

I had dinner with lex and Doug this evening, and it was chicken marsala, a nice change from my usual limited menu. Sarah's dog Charlie was visiting again, as she is attending a wedding in Cabo San Lucas. She's been traveling for weddings a lot this year as well as to out of town bridal showers. Apparently destination weddings are very popular now, and I don't know how she manages to afford all this travel. Her fiance's mother works for an airline so they are often able to fly standby, but even that's expensive.

Amanda and Andrew have also been to several destination weddings, one of them in Panama. But now one of Manda old buddies from her time in Seoul has invited her and Andrew to his wedding which will be held in Cuba. He lives in England now but is originally from Canada and his fiance is from Brazil, so Cuba makes sense as a midway location that both families can get to. The problem is that an American citizen can't just pick up and go to Cuba for a wedding. So Manda will have to miss it, which is sad because she and Maurizio are still very close and have seen each other as often as possible since Manda came home. Whatever happened to hometown weddings?
