Tilques

We spent the morning in St Omer, a 30 minutes drive from Calais. Visited the cathedral with its Rubens painting and the park created within the Vauban ramparts.

Our hotel in Tilques is surrounded by grounds that lead to the wetlands. We had a lovely walk along the rivers and canals that are used by market gardeners and growers. The area is known throughout France for its carrots and cauliflowers. We saw our first baby lamb jumping and running along with its mum and dad. Just the three of them in a paddock.

Spent a very relaxing evening in the Chateau hotel and had a very tasty meal with champagne and bourgogne aligoti in the restaurant which is housed in one of the original buildings of 1690.

My extras are of the hotel and some of the scenes on our walk.
