Daffodil buds

The back garden daffodils are on the point of opening, and there seem to be plenty of flowers coming this year. At the front of the house we have a much later variety, and although they're up, they're by no means as far advanced. The later ones are very long-lasting and will be flowering still when the others are long gone for this year.

Daffodil buds are almost more beautiful than the flowers, with a lovely lime-green tinge to them that soon disappears. I always feel that I want them to stay unfurled for as long as possible, so as to prolong the expectation of what is to come.
