Big Brew

It's Fairtrade Fortnight, and this year an extra-special one in Dunscore, since we have now been a Fairtrade Village for 10 YEARS! Dunscore was the first Fairtrade Village in Dumfries and Galloway and we there was a lot of hoohah when we tried to get a sign erected at the entrance to the village to say so. (We did get it, despite it being declared illegal by the Minister for Transport!).

Every year we hold a "Big Brew" event, with stalls selling Fairtrade and local produce and crafts. The event has expanded to two venues - the church and village hall. Here you can see it in full swing down at the hall, with visitors tucking into homemade soup and cakes. I was on drying-up duty in the kitchen, but I snuck out to take this photo when no-one was looking.

Extras are John, the "soup manager",my friend Joanna selling her amazing jewellery and part of the the special frieze for which local people coloured in "10"s for our big celebration.
