Kingfisher...

It wasn't exactly the best of days to get up early for another trip to Lackford Lakes but I'm glad I did. There was plenty of Kingfisher action and a first for me, a Water Rail. Although quite common they are very furtive and seldom seen for more than a fleeting glimpse.

The photo is a female Kingfisher with what looks like a small Rudd, the Kingfisher extra is a male, the lower mandible is red with a black tip on the female, the male is all black.

The other extras are that Water Rail and a Little Egret.
