Brasses & Voices

Slept in a little this morning......no sign of the forecast bad weather, although it was raining steadily.

We had brunch before getting ready for a trip into Manchester for the last of hubs birthday treats. We thought we might get the bus but because of the storm Freya forecast we opted to drive in.

The weather in Manchester was no better, chilly and wet......instead of a wander and a cocktail, we opted for a coffee before heading to the Bridgewater Hall for a concert of Brasses and Voices, a collaboration between the Cory Brass Band and the welsh male voices of Only Men Aloud, performing music from the movies.

Todays image is of the UK Championship shield currently belonging to the Cory Brass Band.....it was on display beside the stage, very impressive it was too!

We were blown away by the performance, so powerful, moving, literally gave you goosebumps! If you have never listened to a really good brass band you should ;-)
We were treated to Indiana Jones, Star Wars, medleys from James Bond movies, Disney movies, Mama Mia Abba, Men of Harlech and Theme from Saving Private Ryan, to name but a few. A full two hour programme that deserved the standing ovation that they got!!!

Afterwards another coffee before driving back. We decided to stop at our local indian for a meal......couldn't believe how busy it was!! Nevertheless they found us a table and their food was as good as ever. They even have a SW curry sauce :-)

We got back home around 8.30, it is dry, but getting windy.......but no where near as bad as they were saying, so far, anyhow!

I think its safe to say hub has enjoyed his 3 day birthday celebrations :-D

Back to normal tomorrow ;-)
