River of Flowers

Circular Quay, Sydney, New South Wales

Last day in the city today before we fly to our next destination early tomorrow morning. Where to next ....?

Took the ferry over to Darling Harbour, still using the MyFerry ticket! The sky was mostly overcast and weather humid, the photos are not as bright and clear as in the last few days.

In the Circular Quay there are lots of artist and performers around. I noticed one in particular this morning and thought fellow blippers might be interested in his story, as written on his own personal board:

Ciao
I am Giussepe, an Italian Madonnaro
What is a Madonnaro?
Since the 16th century the Madonnari (plural) were itinerant artists from the South of Italy - Puglia - many of whom had been brought into the cities to work on the huge cathedrals.
When the work was done they needed to find another way to make a living, and thus would often recreate the work from the church on the pavement.
Aware of festivals and holy days in each province and town, they traveled to join in the festivities to make a living from observers who would throw coins if they approved of the artist's work.
Giussepe

Hope everyone is getting ready for an enjoyable weekend x
