The River and the Bridge

Another glorious day saw us walking around the island of Sandö, in  Ångermanälven (The Ångerman River) where we used to work many years ago. This isn't the first time I've blipped the river and bridge but I don't apologise for that as it's a very scenic place and changes very much with the seasons and weather.
It's a short walk around the island but today we saw several burning buildings, fire engines, a smoke diver, a blazing car and leaking water spraying out over the ground and freezing rapidly. It wasn't a riot or a catastrophe; the island is home to one of two Swedish training schools for the rescue services and today the fire brigade were in action.
Right down by the water it was a cold -12°C and the gloves were on and off the whole time as we both took a lot of photos. The ice at the edge was good and thick but beyond that it looked to be just a day or two old. The cracks let water up, giving those blue lines that contrast with the dry ice shining white with new snow or frost crystals.  It has been one of those days full of light when you feel good to be alive, and living near such beauty.  The extras show the blue cracks and the view downriver, where you can just make out the towers of the much newer High Coast bridge.
Healthwise I'll quote Jan, writing about me; "somewhat better today which is nice, but not his usual bouncy self ..."  However, I can spot my usual bouncy self, just a couple of days or so away!
This evening we saw the film "Isle of Dogs",  a rather lovely stop-motion cartoon that left us feeling good and positive.
