A Conscious Decision

Wee press job this morning at the National War Museum in Edinburgh Castle. The opening of a new exhibition about Conscientious Objectors. This woman's father is one of the people featured in the exhibition. She is eighty and was delighted to be doing something new this morning in the media spotlight. Last year, she told us, she got her first tattoo. The exhibition reminded me of my grandfather who was a CO in Lancaster Gaol in WWII. My mum told of being taken there to see a group of men marching out of the gaol on their way to the docks to work and being told that one of them was her father , although she didn't recognise him. As she was born in 1939 she can't have been very old.
