Orchid’s Return

Since being repotted, first into a large glass jar and then into a big glass pot, my jewel orchid produced a flower stalk and a new shoot five years in a row. Last year there was a flower, but no sign of a new shoot. The root was plump and I didn’t give up hope. I let the accompanying fern grow up to fill the pot. Now I find that in the shelter of the fern the root has put out two small shoots. The right thing to do for this rainforest perching plant.
