Arrivederci

Our last day, and no more exploring to be done sadly as we had to get to the airport by 9.20. The whole club class experience is a different kettle of fish in Verona airport. Miserable check in staff, who although did advise the lounge was before security, did not specify that it was in fact DIRECTLY behind us so we missed it. She could have just bloody pointed, or even vaguely gestured in that general direction. We ended up having to negotiate ourselves back landslide and going through security twice (which I was determinedly sure you could not do but Rich was determined to prove me wrong. He was right and it meant we could actually take advantage of 2nd breakfast. No champagne this time, but we did get to use a fancy coffee machine)

Alas, due to windyness at Gatwick, we had to wait for an alternative air traffic control slot, meaning we were sat on the tarmac for about an hour before take off.
We were served lunch this time, so no 3rd breakfast for us, and instead of the champagne I had a nice Sauvignon blanc instead. Probably the only time we’ll have the luxury of business class again, but it was well worth feeling important for a few days! Also means you get off the plane first, not enough for one woman who rudely barged past us and some others on the way to passport control. We were delighted to watch her get stuck in the automatic passport reader gates

Anyway, it was a turbulent flight but quite fun, today’s photo being a nice view of Lake Garda nestled in the mountains just minutes after taking off from Verona. A trip for another time maybe.

Miserable drive back from Gatwick with multiple delays due to accidents, and arriving at our door in a sleet storm, however we had a great break and I will now spend many a happy hour reminiscing as I edit the photos!
