the calm before

I went for an early walk this morning to avoid the predicted wind and rain. It was a cold and sunny morning but looking up, I could already see the wind moving the tops of these tall sycamores.

The Met Office says that ‘#StormGareth will bring strong winds across Northern Ireland through Tuesday afternoon into Wednesday, bringing the risk of damage to buildings, flying debris, large waves, power cuts and travel disruption.’

Is it me or do these storms seem to be getting more frequent? Or maybe its just that we now call them by names, making them stay longer in our memories? As I type, D is outside splitting beech felled in September's Storm Ali. I hope tonight won't bring us any more firewood.
