Bawdsey Manor

During the war secret research was carried out at Orfordness and at Bawdsey Manor for the development of radar. My mother in law was a radar operator in the WRAF and one of my patients had been an engineer involved in the research at Bawdsey.
We joined a group from the club at Suffolk Yacht Harbour and met for fish and chips at Felixstowe Ferry sailing club. We then caught the ferry to Bawdsey and, after a pleasant walk along country lanes, were shown around the museum. It was fascinating to see the things that I had heard about in the past. This main photo is of Bawdsey manor in the distance and the extras are of Felixstowe side of the river, the radar equipment and of the ferry arriving to take us back across the river
