Run Off

As the thaw continues with temps briefly hitting 60F, I found this little drop in a drainage channel providing some nice turbulence in the water. The landscape is very flat here, so there are few opportunities to photograph moving water.

It was quite dull amongst the trees giving a slow shutter speed and the water smoothed out too much. So I took a second shot at a higher iso, to increase the shutter speed and capture the moving water. I then brushed texture into the water in the first shot, using a mask in photoshop.

I think the overall effect demonstrates the rapid movement quite well.

Today was also quite windy, blowing the tree tops vigorously, and I was a bit nervous walking in the trees.
