In search of the curlew

Pal Helen wanted to hear her first curlew of the year so we drove through Haworth and parked up just beyond the village, then took the footpath down to Lower Laithe Reservoir, turning right up the hill to Stanbury.  We took the footpath towards Top Withens, forking left across fields to the Bronte Waterfalls which were pretty busy following all the rainfall on previous days.

Helen paused awhile whilst I faffed with my settings and I managed to take this blip before my battery died (note to self!}  Then we crossed the beck and walked back to the car.  The plan was to drive back in to Haworth and have a cuppa and cake at Cobbles and Clay, but they had smoked haddock soup with crusty bread on the specials and we succumbed, delicious!

Oh and the curlew, yes we heard and saw several curlew and peewits on our walk, mission successful!
