Dahlias

Rather a dull day but we went out to carry out the final winter bird survey near Cartmel. We spotted a few garden birds but sadly there have been almost no overwintering birds over the 5 months of the survey. The farmland is quite tightly grazed and there is very little to feed flocks of hungry thrushes. That’s what the survey is designed to highlight I suppose.
When I got home I potted up my new Dahlia roots. I don’t think I have tried them before but now I have time to do more gardening I hope I will be successful! They look like good plants so fingers crossed.
