The Old Forge (Sunday 17th March 2019)

Mr Blackbird and his family have been residents here for some years now. He is one of the few customers at my fatball table but here I noticed him by the birdbath and snapped him through the porch window. He didn't seem to notice so I stepped outside to get this shot. He stayed there unperturbed, having become quite tame over time.

Lozarhythm Of The Day:
Nina Simone - Blackbird (recorded 1963)
This song is really about black oppression and slavery. It was released as a B-side in 1993 but not on an album until she had left Colpix, her record label, in 1966, when Paul McCartney heard it. It is thought to have inspired his 1968 song of the same name on a similar theme.
