The Carrington Pump House

I have blipped this before but from the other side.  Horrors, it looks like it will be derelict no longer as there seems to be renovations happening.  It has all been fenced off.  I have just done some sleuthing and it appears that the facade is being restored at the cost of minor millions and it will then be used (the facade only) for the community.

Built in 1877 by the ports engineer Edward Moriarty.  The purpose of the Pump House was to run hydraulic cranes to load coal onto ships along the nearby waterfront stretch known as The Dyke.  It was decommissioned in 1964 and has been abandoned since the mid 1990s.

Thanks again Bob for your timely mid week wide Wednesday challenge.
