Otter run: One Street #4

A day of catching up and pottering - the rooms are now ready for the various members of the family arriving throughout next week and excitement is mounting. Son #2 is the first to arrive on Wednesday and the road to the airport will become a familiar one.

We dashed out between torrential downpours for a quick walk around the circuit, and this is another in my One Street series. Several years ago a bungalow was built on the other side of the road but before completion, the builders vanished and the rather ugly building was left to fester surrounded by mighty heaps of rubble and earth. Earlier this year it was finally bought and a huge amount of care and money has been thrown into it and it looks much better. The site has also been landscaped and this bit of land on the coastal side of the road belongs to the house. All week, in all weather, a gang of men have been busily building this fine stone wall. What I really like is the little gap left in the bottom here - an otter run!! How very thoughtful, and practical, for sea otters are frequently seen at this spot and would obviously be flummoxed by the appearance of a wall.
