Meet and Greet

Tonight Run Timaru had it's opening meet and greet, we had two members talk about what running and being in the club means to them. Glenda who I coach and only started running last year, talked about the encouragement and being with other runners. Glenda started out by running at one of our Bay 5k's and a friend encouraged to to come along. She enjoyed it so much that she started a couple of 10ks and then a couple of 1/2 Marathons. Last week Glenda knocked a whooping 15 mins off her finishing time for a race she ran last week from the previous year.
Steve Talked about trying to keep up with some of the faster runners and how we will leave a Map on the door at the Frontrunner so he can catch us up. Steve talked about a run he never thought he would ever run and this year he ran the Old Ghost Road Ultra, 82km more than 2,800m of Ascent in 9:57.23.2, Steve said no matter what sort of runner you are walk if you have to run when you can but always keep moving forward. Steve said it's not all about fast running, the club has had races where the kids run and he has been able to tail along with his two boys. Recently the whole Family entered in a Mud run and this week his Wife bought a pair of running shoes. My image is of Lisa, a new Member who has been encouraged to run a 1/2 Marathon in May with some Family members.
