The Eyes Have It

Not the prettiest photo I took today, but thought it would be interesting to show you the hugely dilated pupil of Mike's right eye several hours after the laser surgery (not sure those with phones will see it). It went well, but the tearing is worse than first thought, so he'll have to go back in a fortnight for more work in a third zone. Meanwhile, no lifting (of anything heavier than about 3kg), nor lowering of head. We went to the supermarket, and he promptly lifted two packs of six litres of milk... it's going to be difficult for him to remember; not sure what we'll do for the next month.

Staying with our friends, the Anemas, tonight, to save me driving here tomorrow for a meeting; we were a lot closer in Évora than we would have been in Mourão. Also, a reminder to rest, and a chance for some good conversation.

Gratefuls:
- successful surgery, and the Portuguese health system... we paid €60 for the consultation yesterday; guess how much we paid for the surgery today? (answer in tags)
- all the support we've received from so many during this crisis, including all of you, so appreciated
- the small vase of flowers Elisabeth put on the table I'm using in our little house here on their farm
