Red Breasted Merganser

Today we drove to Sequim Washington to the Dungeness National Wildlife Refuge.  It was beautiful sun again this morning, but clouds were moving in.  I saw this Merganser a little ways out in the waves and managed to capture it just as he stood up and spread his wings.  I included one in the extra photos that shows the descent to the beach, and the spit you can walk along to a lighthouse.  It is about 11 miles roundtrip to go to the lighthouse, I am still working on finding a willing friend to make the hike with me.  We went about half way today.
