Looking across Great Mell

to Blencathra from Little Mell.

Having decided not to join family in London for the march it ended up being a mix of a day here starting with a catch up with a pal in Cornwall on the phone, then the first grass cut of the year and heads down drains with the neighbour to try to understand his ongoing problems. Local historian, Cedric, has been dowsing and is convinced there’s a Roman acquaduct down there. A quick walk up Little Mell Fell where the skylarks were in full voice and then on for a haircut and shopping and over to Hazel Dene where I have always got my seed potatoes. It’ll be the last time as they are running down stock and closing down. Onward to my friend’s at Maulds but they were out in town and about to have a walk at Pooley so I headed back and met them for a walk over Dunmallard and a drink in the Sun.
