Luca's last day in Alohaland

The Gods were so kind to us for Luca's stay in Alohaland! Another beautiful day and we had a lovely time walking to the fish ponds that we call the Maldives Beach. Luca and I walked there and Tiziano came along after a while. We stood for ages in the thigh-deep water and chatted. It was so warm and relaxed. Luca was super affectionate, which of course warms a mother's heart.

We had a delightful lunch at Buzz's - fish burgers for all, capped off with a very alcoholic Mai Tai, gad! (luckily we shared one among the three of us).

After an hour or so of reading on the beach in the afternoon, it was time for Luca to pack up and get ready for his return to NYC and Columbia life. It was such a great trip, I'm so happy we made the effort for him to come over. He is opening up a bit, and maturing a lot. Such a pleasure to stand by and witness.

Tiziano and I had tickets for Kealoha, "The Story of Everything". He is the Hawaiian poet laureate (and MIT doctoral graduate in nuclear physics) and this is his epic poem on the last 13 billion years. It would have been fantastic if the acoustics were better, but it was hard to understand (Tiziano didn't have a hope!). Still, what I did hear and his fantastic presentation, including dance and movement and expressivity in general, made it well worth while. Only thing was that it meant that John took Luca to the airport (so kind of him!), which I was sorry about, but at least he got to ride in the Tesla.

I feel very sad about Luca's departure but happy too about his great stay here and that's what I'm focusing on.
