Some designs...

...for my intended badges I am making to explain my deafness and lipreading. The blank badges came yesterday.

I am hoping this makes it easier for me in various situations as hospital and medical appointments. I am also considering wearing them in shops because cashiers etc get impatient with me because I don't respond immediately as I am still working out what they are saying.

These are preliminary designs. I am probably making 3 badges to wear at once for major impact.

I have ticked the three in red I think are strong possibles.

You have one day, Sunday, to give me any suggestions. As hearing people, you may think differently what would have impact on you.

I need to complete and make them up tomorrow, Monday, ready to wear for a hospital appointment. This hospital is a distance away and now does not have a reception. Your appointment letter scans you in. And you sit and wait for people to come out of various doors all round the large waiting room calling your name.

I cannot hear them calling my name. Before, when reception was there I always took a card and piece of paper which I asked them to place on top of my Hospital file so the person calling my name came round the room to check for me if I did not respond.

And then you are sent to another part for the name calling out of name again to see someone else. It is very stressful.

I have sat there all morning in the past and missed the person calling my name even though I had alerted reception when reception was there. And I did keep getting up that day to ask reception if my name had been called, but was told to sit down and wait. I never got my appointment that day and got told off for not responding when my name was called and wasting the specialist's time.

My brain is making the suggestion I also have a placard with my name on and saying I am deaf...

Now that is going too far...or is it?

I would appreciate any ideas.
Thank you x
