Lozarhythm Of The Day:
Andrew Poppy - 32 Frames for Amplified Orchestra (recorded 1984, Sarm West Studios, London)
This piece was conceived and written for the Goldsmiths College 20th Century Music Orchestra and was first performed in their Recital Room on 18th March 1981 conducted by Rupert Bond. Andrew Poppy, formerly of the influential but now largely forgotten Lost Jockey conducted and arranged this recording with an orchestra led by Elizabeth Perry (lead violinist). Names I recognise from the orchestra include John Harle on soprano saxophone. I've owned the album this comes from, The Beating Of Wings, since 1991 but have just this day acquired a 3CD set of his recordings for the Zang Tuum Tumb label.
