Sicilian Adventure - Day 5!

Orecchio di Dionisio (Ear of Dionysius), Parco Archeologico della Neapolis, Syracuse

Lady Luck finally ran out on us today: rain, broken down buses, museums partially closed. But we still managed to find plenty to do in the mainland part of Syracuse (as documented in my photos), before returning to the island of Ortigia for a late afternoon Cannolo, only to get out of the rain of course!

Extra no 1: the very modern church of Santurio della Madonna delle Lacrime, Syracuse
Extra no 2: Basilica and Catacombe di San Giovanni, Syracuse, for an underground tour of the Catacombs dating back to Roman times (no photography allowed)
Extra no 3: 2nd century Anfiteatro Romano, Parco Archeologico della Neapolis, Syracuse
Extra no 4: 5th century BC Teatro Greco, Parco Archeologico della Neapolis, Syracuse - unfortunately a large part of the theatre was covered by staging and seating in preparation for a performance

(Not so many extras today, no blue skies to show you. Thank you once again for your very kind comments, stars and hearts for yesterday’s journal. Sorry for my continued blip absence, I’m either out, eating, posting a hurried blip, or sleeping...)

Ciao!
