Coast path to West Bay

We were up and walking by 7.45 this morning, heading to West Bay. The first couple of hours were quite foggy, but as we started to climb Golden Cap, at 191 metres, the highest point on the south coast, it cleared and was another beautiful day. I had googled the walk as being just over 6 miles, but when we stopped for coffee in Seatown we had walked 4- but realised it was more than 2 more!. Over the top of Thorncombe Beacon (157m) and into Eype , which mum and I often camped at, which fortuneatly hasn't changed at all.
Then the final climb and lunch at West Bay was in sight! I had leant to play golf at West Bay golf club in my teans, but unlike Lyme, Charmouth and Eype, it disappointed. The main harbour area, and iconic buildings unchanged, but every other square inch seems to be car parking.
Final miles walked was just over 8, and probably far enough for R.our elderly Springer.
We' ll be back to west bay to pick up the next section of the coast path, but not this week.
