First tulip

This red pot-grown tulip is just ahead, by about a day, of a solitary yellow one in the border. The main display of tulips in the garden is coming into bud now, but a little way yet behind these ones. 

It's exceptionally lovely weather today, though quite cold out of the sun. We had a good walk around a local nature reserve, where the water levels seemed a little lower than one would think right for this time of year. After last year's very dry summer, a dry spring (if such it turns out to be) isn't really ideal.
