such amazing textures....

i'm loving all the amazing textures and beautiful palms etc. getting lots of images for later inspiration back in the old mudroom when i start painting again.

i took today to have some quiet....which isn't easily found here, except in my room, which is just fine cos the rooms are so spacious and cool....didn't head to the beach, instead after lunch i went back to our room and got out my traveling paint kit and pastels and spent some time painting, listening to my own music.....it was pretty lovely.

the food and wine etc., are wonderful, even when we get to lunch at 2.30 there is still a good array of things to eat. the resort is kept so clean and well taken care off, you can tell they have great pride in their work here. feels so much like a little village....everyone greeting each other with an Hola~

once again i am out of a book to read...finished 2 novels whilst here already....Love and Ruin by Paula McLane (?) she also wrote the Paris Wife....both books are about wives of Ernest Hemingway! Love and Ruin is mostly about Martha Gillhorn, his 3rd wife and she was amazing....became one of America's best journalists....she was strong, independent and brave. Hemingway couldn't deal with her, he was such a narcisstic bastard really. anyway, i'm now interested in reading one his novels....this book was partly based in Cuba so that added to the interest. a fabulous novel about an amazing woman! they have free paperbacks you can pick up at the towel exchange place.....i'm now into a novel set in India!!
