Maple

I think these are the flowers of field maple, but I'm not quite sure. The colour is beautiful and makes the whole tree stand out when most of the other trees around it are still bare. This is a lovely time of year, when the trees take on, in turn, a yellowy-green haze of emerging life, as for just a few days they gather their energy ready for the burst of spring growth.
