Live tree, dead tree

These two trees, one alive and one dead, are perched on the edge of an eroding riverbank. The river turns through 90 degrees at this point, and is rapidly cutting away the bank on the outside of the curve. The process is being accelerated by the footfall of cows who come here to drink, and in another two or three years, both trees will have gone I should think. The worst of the erosion is out of picture, to the right of the trees. For now, the contrast of blossom and dead wood stands out for a week or two of spring.
