A day in the life

Rootrock

Sometime long ago, I don't really know how many years ago but quite a few for sure, a seed fell on a thin layer of soil right on top of a large slab of red limestone. As the roots developed the rock was gradually incorporated into the tree, giving extra stability to the trunk. They became inseparable. Even after the big storm they refused to let go of each other, now forming a piece of sculpture in the forest, symbolising something or other.

My guess is that the tree will deteriorate faster  than the rock and I wouldn't like to sit underneath it when that happens. Perhaps a new seed will fall on top of it, nourished by the humus of the old tree and a new relation can begin.
