Gathering Gloom

After a day working outside I left it late for a blip.  Eased indoors by the encroaching drizzle moving in off the North Sea after a cool, cloudy day, I was gifted this little piece of magic when I stepped out the back door with my camera.  The first flower on Erythronium 'Pagoda', a great bulb for a shady border.  Buy the bulbs as soon as they hit the shops in autumn and plant immediately.  They dislike being dried out in a packet but seem fine in my free draining, sandy soil in a shady place.

A trough planted up this morning and major renovation in the front garden filled my day.   Both will feature here in future :-)
