Life through the lens...

By ValC

Looking for lunch.

An enjoyable few hours spent at Rodley Nature Reserve this morning.
Glad we were well wrapped up, as it was certainly cold. Fairly quiet too for a Sunday.
However as we were walking back to the car the sun decided to come out and what a difference it made to the temperature.
Many more people about too.

We did meet some very enthusiastic little children pond dipping.
See my extra of their findings.
Each had a chart of photographs which told them what the tiny creatures were. Some I had never heard of.

Two swans nesting in the reeds. Well hidden.
Which is good as we saw the remains of a swan near one of the hides. Only the feathers left.
Looking forward to seeing the little ones when they hatch out.
Also quite a few greylag geese on nests.
It was nice to see a pair of golden eye, and the sand martins have now returned too.
However they were too far away for any good photos.
So I have chosen my shot of the heron for today’s blip.
Two extra shots are of the kingcups,as I liked the reflections, and the flowers of the sycamore tree. Something you don’t often think to photograph, but they are beautiful.

Now about to watch the boat race.
For once the weather is much better up here.
Lovey sunny afternoon.
