How many holes can one dog in dig the sand?

I thought at first the dog was playing with a rather large stone but after chatting with Skye's owners they told me it was lump of very charred wood so it certainly wasn't as heavy as looked.
The wood was thrown into the sea and time after time Skye ploughed her way through the incoming waves to retrieve it.  Oh, to have a young dog's energy.
