Grounded LMS Van

This design of railway van was popular in the years before the railways were nationalised (1949). Vans like this - with corrugated steel ends and roof - date from around 1930 but became redundant in the early 1950s.  They had their wheels removed and were sold off - mainly as storage units. Unfortunately they deteriorated over the years and not many survive in a useable state.  This one is a shelter for livestock in a field above Ripponden.
