At the castle

Well, I know you can hardly see them, but this is virtually the only photo I took today - far too busy and this was just about the only moment they were still - two of them anyway.

We went on the train from Appleby to Carlisle, where we bought books of their own choice, had a lovely lunch and then crossed the bridge over to the castle. As the youngest has been learning all about castles at school, she took great delight in doing us a conducted tour.

When we returned home they created a complicated book shop/library game between them, which went well until the youngest was fed up of being bossed about and walked off (with the library tickets she had made) and set up a café.

They spent some time with Spirograph sets I had bought for them - amazing how soon they each worked out what to do and produced wonderful patterns. Later we had a 'posh' meal where they each had a task to do and coordinated their efforts to produce beautiful plates that even John Torode would have passed.

More Spirograph, one more trip to the playground with grandad and they now seem to be in bed. More tomorrow.
