Field of Light - Avenue of Honour, Albany, WA.

An immersive art installation by Bruce Munro, who also lit up Uluru, in homage to the ANZACs who left for the war in Europe from Albany harbour. Albany was the last time many of the Anzacs saw Australia.

We had a special dinner there on sunday night. The lights are in the colours of the wattle of Australia and the kowhai of NZ. The 16000 lights are installed along the Avenue of Honour amongst the trees that bear plaques with the names of those soldiers who gave their lives. (I'm getting goose bumps as I type this!)  It is an incredibly emotional space, high on Mt Clarence, overlooking the city of Albany and the beautiful harbour.
