De Plug

We found a place called Bagel and Beans for breakfast, alas only coffee beans. I was hoping for a massive plate of beans on toast. A lovely breakfast though. A little shopping and then a canal cruise. We took the option of a real commentary from ‘Arthur’ who it turns out must be Paul Whitehouse’s Dutch cousin. A really interesting hour and a half, right round the city, lots of history with an informative and amusing commentary with the added bonus of a well stocked bar.

After this Alf and I went in search of a music shop. After a couple of false starts we found De Plug, a small shop stuffed full of amazing retro gear. Pete the owner ( on the left ) and his helper Dave ( right ) were brilliant. Giving Alf a guitar to play and me a beer. It turns out the shop is very well known. Lots of well known people turn up, have a jam and a few beers. Oasis.. Joe Walsh for instance. We had a great hour in there.

Back into town, a quick whizz around the red light district and then a beer stop before the ‘Torture Museum’.. only 15 mins to get round but entertaining in a gruesome sort of way.

We then found a small familyrun Italian for dinner which was excellent.

Extra is a shot down a canal on the way back.
