Taking the Long Way Home

I plotted a route that kept us off the highway as long as possible. Amazingly enough, according to the map program and our final time, the long way was the shorter way. We passed by rolling gentle hills, magnificent trees, lilacs in bloom. It was lovely.

We found a good Indian restaurant for lunch that, oddly enough, is right near the transfer stations that I posted on Monday. The circuitous route we were following took us very close to those sinister buildings, but luckily our car wasn't sucked in by the giant vacuums.

We did get an unpleasant surprise at home--the roofer had begun work without notifying us and we are smack in the middle of decisions about shingles and roof vents as we unpack our skis and suitcases. No one thought to find out if the timing was convenient, and I still can't believe they would tear off the roof without someone at home. Hopefully it will resolve tomorrow when we meet with the guy. We need the roof, they just didn't give us any time to do our homework.
