Olympic Stadium

Today I travelled by train to Southend for a brief stay with my sister and the chance to visit my Mum before Christmas. The train from Liverpool Street to Southend goes right past the London 2012 Olympic site and I took the opportunity to photograph it for a blip.

It seemed an appropriate subject for the day given that the BBC Sports Personality of the Year was happening this evening, and was sure to be dominated by Team GB's Olympic success stories. I hoped Bradley Wiggins would win the award, but wouldn't have been surprised if the public had gone for Jessica Ennis instead. I was pleased when the result came through.
