Newly emerged oak leaves

Funny old day. Turned out OK in the end. An on off rugby match where I was going to watch a referee was cancelled this morning which must have been galling for the appointments officer who had been trying all week to get someone to referee and was successful on the 5th occasion. Then the game was cancelled.

I went for a run while Susan took her mum to hospital to the cardiology department for an ultrasound scan. I had to go and try and procure some emergency drugs as Doreen had run out. Partly successful.

This all ate into the day so we did the cleaning together so we could go for a walk. Sunny but very cold in the biting easterly wind. We had to remonstrate with some lads who were tearing up and throwing some recently laid turf around a new skateboard park. It made little difference. They ignored another person who came over to ask them to stop and even the mother of at least one of the boys was ineffective.

Over £4 million is being spent on improving facilities in the park yet some are intent on spoiling it for the majority. The Council appear not to have a presence at the weekend. It would be good if some of the recently introduced parking charges was spent on supervising the site.

Quite spoilt the walk. Today’s blip was presented to us on a plate, having fallen from a tree to land on the path in front of us. New oak leaves and, just visible, oak flowers.
