Save our Loos

This story was splashed all over the front page of our free weekly newspaper, loos to be turned into restaurants! Now as most people know Stratford-upon-Avon is a tourist honey pot and these particular loos are on Waterside, in the centre of town a spit away from the world famous RSC Theatre. (I've marked the location on the map in case you're ever in need within the neighbourhood).

One thing Stratford is not short of is restaurants, pubs, coffee houses et al. It is a little thin on the ground for public conveniences. This one became a little less convenient recently when a barrier was thrown up overnight (a bit like the Berlin Wall) with a 20p entry fee, talk about 'spend a penny'.

There was a outcry sometime back when the public library in Henley Street closed its loo on some flimsy excuse. There is obviously a conspiracy happening up and down the country with the aim of closing or making totally inaccessible all public loos.

For a long time it has been difficult to find a loo in London, now I understand there is only one left in Manchester. For the young and strong of bladder this is not so much of an issue, but when you get to a certain age, such as mine, locations of the nearest toilet can become of paramount interest.
