A Bit of a Bandit

All the birds are hungry and I needed a blip. Strategy was called for!

The door, held just ajar with a cushion and a piece of string wrapped round the handle so it wouldn't fly open in the gale-like gusts letting in the rain I set up the tripod. Closed the doors to the rest of the house but the temperature in the conservatory and kitchen dropped like a stone. Shivering waiting for some action the dogs too just sat and waited. Water started coming in onto the floor but the birds were being spooked by the lens even with these tactics.

However we have had 2 different nests of Blue tits this spring and they seem to be always around chirpily happy and a joy to have around! They do have different personalities as seen here - we have Bandit Bluey who really has no manners and shoos the others away and we have dainty much more laid-back Cherubic Bluey a bit less of a thug!

You can only tell the males a from the females with an ultraviolet light as the males have a reflective crown. Having no ultraviolet light handy I've no clue if they are male or female!
