Villa

Up early for our journey south. It’s cold. Below freezing on our drive to the airport. A mercilessly uneventful journey to Florence via Frankfurt, a short delay to the second flight only serving to lengthen an uncomfortably short connection.
Inevitably, there is mild confusion in Italy, this time with the car rental, but we’re soon on our way. Forty minutes drive south, we arrive on time, and our host Beatrice receives us. She guides us to our spacious villa, and tells us of her son’s restaurant in a nearby village. We immediately book for dinner at 19:30.

Excellent pizza, but the kids are tired and becoming fractious, so we head back without dessert, and crash out.
