The magic of wayang

Wayang is Indonesian shadow play with intricate flat puppets, it's practised most on Java and Bali. This one here is a souvenir version from Bali, rather coarse but beautifully coloured (as it's all about the shadows these puppets make, there wouldn't really be a need to colour them, but they are nonetheless). The character is probably Rajuna, one of the 5 Pandava brothers in the Mahabharata stories. Despite his wild eye it's easy to see that this is a 'good' character as his nose goes down straight from his forehead, the baddies in wayang plays have crooked or round noses. These stories are filled with magical happenings. For Tiny Tuesday with thanks to dfb24 for hosting.
PS he's a bit dusty, I don't dare to clean him very much, he's made from either extremely thin painted leather or thick painted carton, his head with crown is about a thumb long

Thank you very much for the kind comments and stars for yesterday's garlic mono
