Gabriel-little by little

Cathedral of Córdoba

Just as in the great cities of the world there are churches with history, in Argentina we have several constructions of international architectural level and with a lot of history to tell.
This one in particular, is from the 16th century

The construction itself was started in the year 1582 with the name -which still bears- of the Church of Our Lady of the Assumption. In 1598 the alfarje or master of works Gregorio Ferreira and the stonecutter Juan Rodríguez undertook the construction of the building with sufficiently solid materials (stone, bricks and lime). In 1601 the carpenter Mateo Domínguez took the work of making an armor of slats and beams for the roof while Hernando Álvarez was commissioned to supervise the manufacture of 30,000 tiles "musleras" the direction of the work was shortly after entrusted to the Granada architect Ricardo González Merguete who made several plans; the works gained a strong impulse thanks to the architects and Jesuits. Gian Battista Primoli (or Juan Bautista Prímoli) designed the main plan of the plant (Latin cross of the basilical type) following the model of the almost contemporary Jesuit church of Il Gesù in Rome.

In 1706 the cathedral was officially consecrated.
