London's caryatids

Attended a seminar on the morphology of London at UCL's Central House on Upper Woburn Place. Nearby is St Pancras New Church, a landmark on Euston Road with its reproductions of classic Greek sculptures - these are the caryatids on the southern side of the church.

Less than a month ago, I was in Athens and saw the original sculptures from the Parthenon in the Acropolis Museum. The St Pancras ones are made in sections from terracotta and clad cast iron columns - and somehow seem less slender and graceful than the originals.
