Getting the sparkle back

Tantallon Castle

On the East Lothian coast, not far from North Berwick. T and I went for an expedition on another glorious day. Here is some info about Tantallon Castle from Undiscovered Scotland. We also discovered the wonderful beach at Seacliff, for which you pay £3 to get access. We both paddled in the sea - can't remember when I last did that in Scotland! It was busy but nowhere near as busy as North Berwick, where we stopped off on the way home to get lovely ice creams at Alanda's Gelateria.

I've included an extra photo of the nearby Bass Rock with gannets wheeling above, shining white in the sunshine. It's the largest Northern gannet colony in the world with over 150,000 birds. It's now officially full - there's no room for any more gannets and they are a success story as far as seabirds are concerned.
